Becoming a friend to a past lover

“Friends can be lovers but lovers can’t be friends”- this is one of the most spoken sayings regarding love. Is it really possible that former lovers can be friends?

For past couples who have learned to let go, indeed it is very feasible. But for two persons where breakup is not a mutual decision, the other one who had the terrible bruise would not want it and would definitely be bitter about this idea.

Some might say that remaining friends with an ex could be so pointless. Because in reality, it is not always that a current partner could ever be comfortable of this thought. Sometimes it could be an issue in the present relationship. Yet, when time arrives that both have been entirely cured and moved on to a blissful bond with new beloved, then it would be an easy task.

It matters how genuine the friendship you have established before you became lovers. Emotional maturity does count to let go of the past as it is the necessary key for ex-lovers to become friends. Learn to disassociate your feelings to the person. After all, friendship is the best kind of relationship in this diverse and complicated world, because it is where forever lies..
